On the hottest day of the summer so far we were lucky enough to have reservations to sail around Boston Harbor through Boston Classic Harbor Lines on a beautiful wooden 80 foot schooner called the Adirondack III Schooner. We took our 9 year, 2, and 15 month old. What an amazing experience! Although we live outside of Boston, we have never taken a cruise around the Harbor and now we definitely want to return sans kids for a romantic sunset sail!
The boat provides an intimate atmosphere as there were about 12 passengers and the crew was so experienced, helpful, kind, and knowledgeable! We almost felt like we were on a private sail! The captain told us about us fascinating tales and told us the history of certain landmarks like the Boston islands as we sailed by. They enthusiastically answered questions that any of the passengers had. We had planes from Logan flying directly overhead which my kids loved. Best of all, the crew members made my children feel so special and gave them special comfy life jackets. They often stopped to interact with them, offer to take them to different parts of the boat to see amazing views of Boston, and even gave them a turn driving the boat. The kids loved it, and we'll definitely be returning! The sail was for 2 hours which was just the right amount of time for our family. We also appreciated the complimentary waters and sodas they provided, and adults can purchase beer or wine for a small fee.
